Youth Leader, One-Year Position

Do you want to create places of hope (Sv: Rum för hopp) for young people in the heart of Stockholm? Immanuel Church is looking for an engaged leader who wants to help shape the future of our confirmation ministry and youth work together with colleagues and the young people in our congregation.

About us

Immanuel Church is a vibrant and international congregation in central Stockholm. We strive to be an open and welcoming community where everyone feels included. A place where questions are just as welcome as answers. We value diversity and aim to be a safe place where young people can grow in faith and independent thinking – regardless of background or identity. Please read more about our vision at immanuel.se

Your role and your team

As a youth leader, you will be entrusted with supporting the spiritual and personal development of young people. You will become part of a broad and highly competent team consisting of several colleagues and a committed group of volunteers.

Your main areas of responsibility:

  • Confirmation ministry: You will share responsibility for Konfa, our confirmation ministry, primarily together with our Youth Pastor. The Konfa team also includes a musician, a deacon, pastors and volunteers. Konfa includes everything from deep conversations and camps to guiding young people in their exploration of faith and life.
  • Teen ministry (FREDA): Here you will help create a space for faith, searching and belonging. You will be there for late-night conversations about everything from social issues to anxiety about the future and hope.
  • HQ – Holy Quarter: HQ is our afternoon programme for children and young people. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm. You will participate one or a couple of afternoons each week and share responsibility for this ministry.
  • Planning & creativity: You will be part of a collaborative team, while also taking responsibility for administration and structure within your area of work.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone who is comfortable in themselves and has reflected on their own identity. You are not expected to have all the answers, but you should love thoughtful conversations and meeting young people where they are.

We are looking for someone who:

  • has a Christian faith and shares our vision of an öppen kyrka [open church – review terminology].
  • has a strong interest in young people and an understanding of what it is like to grow up in the Greater Stockholm area.
  • enjoys planning and creating structure.
  • communicates fluently in both Swedish and English, as we are a multilingual environment.
  • has experience and/or education in youth work, music, or similar creative and relationship-oriented settings – or perhaps both?
  • has an interest in music, enjoys singing and playing music and can inspire others to find their voice and make music together would be an advantage.
  • Experience from contexts where people from different cultures and parts of the world meet is also considered an advantage

About the position

This is a temporary position for approximately one year, starting in August 2026. The extent of the position can be discussed, but we estimate it to be somewhere between 50% and 100%.

We offer a creative working environment where you can make a real difference, develop as a leader, and help shape a ministry that means a great deal to many young people.
