Miniretreat – three Wednesdays this spring

Note: All Retreats are held in Swedish. Life moves fast, often without offering many quiet pauses. Here, you have the opportunity to slow down and reflect. One key word is longing. In stillness, we can find rest and tune in to our deepest desires. We can ask ourselves: “How do I want to live my life? What brings me joy? What do I long for?”

This is also a chance to explore what happens when our everyday lives meet a Bible passage and thought-provoking questions. No prior knowledge is needed. This mini retreat is for everyone—whether you have a long-standing faith, are new to it, or simply curious about Christianity.

If you are able, you are welcome to join the Mass at 6:00 PM, with a short coffee break before the mini retreat starts at 7:00 PM.

A Day of Stillness, Rest, and Reflection

“Retreat means to withdraw. Throughout history, people have sought out secluded places that offer the opportunity for rest, reflection, stillness, and prayer. In a culture that prioritizes activity and efficiency, we often forget the simple and essential truth: human life is a balance between work and rest. To be able to give, we must first receive. Only those who allow themselves to be loved are truly able to love. During a retreat, we set aside work, schedules, and ambitions. At the center is the heart’s conversation with God and with ourselves. In stillness, something is allowed to happen deep within our lives.”
(Quote: The Ecumenical Community of Bjärka-Säby)

📍 Location: Immanuel Church, Stockholm (Kungstensgatan 17, Subway: Rådmansgatan)

Who is it for?
No prior knowledge required. This retreat is for everyone—whether you are new to faith, have been on the journey for a long time, or are simply curious about Christianity. We will enter into silence for the day and turn off our phones after the morning coffee.

A Pause for the Soul – What Happens During a Retreat?

In a world filled with noise, speed, and demands, a retreat offers an opportunity to pause, breathe, and listen inward. But what exactly happens during a retreat? What does it mean to be together in silence?

Whether you are new to the concept or have previous experience with Christian retreats, the structured stillness can become a deep and meaningful experience. Here’s a glimpse into how a retreat can create space for rest, reflection, and the heart’s conversation with God.

Regardless of whether you have been to a Christian retreat before or not, a few lines about the arrangement. It will be a quiet retreat while we are together. It can be a new experience for many. In the silence there is a structure where you can both be alone and think your own thoughts, and at the same time you are together during the meals and the beginning of the sessions.

In a culture where activity and efficiency are prized, we often forget the simple and obvious: human life is a commute between work and rest. In order to give, it is necessary to receive. Only the one who allows himself to be loved is able to love. In the retreat, we put work, almanac and ambitions aside. At the center is the conversation of the heart with God and myself. In the stillness, we allow something to happen in the depths of our lives.” (Quote: Retreatgården Bjärka Säby)
