A Conversation with Peter Halldorf and Music by FRÖ
Peter Halldorf, one of Sweden’s most renowned pastors and authors, will join Immanuelskyrkan’s anniversary celebration to discuss what we can learn from the Church Fathers today.
Halldorf, who has his roots in the Pentecostal movement, has long been inspired by Orthodox and Catholic spiritual traditions. Through his ecumenical outlook, he has enriched free church traditions with new perspectives, notably through his many books and his involvement with the ecumenical community at Bjärka Säby.
His latest book, “God’s Israel”, is highly relevant, examining the prophet Jeremiah in the context of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Palestine. During the event, Halldorf will join Carin Dernulf, pastor and leader of Immanuelskyrkan, in reflecting on how the Church Fathers can inspire us in today’s world. This thought-provoking conversation will explore timeless wisdom with modern relevance.
The evening will begin with a half-hour concert by the artist FRÖ, Paulina Fröling. FRÖ, originally from the mountains of Jämtland, now calls Stockholm her home. Her music and lyrics are deeply rooted in a passion for genuine human connection. With a focus on raw emotion and authentic expression, her music strives to truly resonate with listeners. During the evening, she will perform both previously released works and new songs from her upcoming album, which centers around motherhood. FRÖ will also read a few poems touching on her work as a psychologist at a youth home for gang-involved boys, adding a powerful emotional layer to her artistic performance.
The Cultural Café takes place on Wednesday, October 16th at 6:00 p.m., promising an inspiring evening of reflection on the church’s history, accompanied by emotionally stirring music. We warmly welcome you to a night filled with depth, creativity, and new perspectives!
