English Language Associate Pastor, Immanuel Church, Stockholm, Sweden

Immanuel Church of Stockholm, located in the center of Sweden’s capital city, is seeking an Associate Pastor for our International, English speaking fellowship. A wide diversity of people congregate here, young and old, from Sweden and from many countries around the world, both believers and seekers, with a wide variety of gifts and tastes, having diverse economic, cultural and church backgrounds.

Immanuel Church has approximately 1450 members in the three language groups combined. Approximately 300 to 350 people attend weekly service at the International Fellowship. The whole congregation comprises three language groups whilst remaining a single congregation. The congregation is governed and led by one board and by one Senior Pastor. Each language group, Swedish, English and Korean has a council which is tasked to support the pastors in leading the ministries of each group. Every Sunday we celebrate worship in the three language groups in Immanuel Church, in surroundings where the pulse is high and where people are both challenged and encouraged to grow spiritually. In the midst of our diversity, it is our hope that all who come are able to say and feel that “this is where I belong – whoever I am, wherever I come from”.

Our prioritized focus areas are children, youth and families and young adults, care for people in vulnerable situations, volunteer and leadership development, and constantly developed fellowship between our language groups. Our homepage gives a good insight into our wide-reaching activities (www.immanuel.se).

Immanuel Church is now looking for an Associate Pastor with shared responsibility for our international English-speaking fellowship. The Associate Pastor is called to provide pastoral leadership and care to the international fellowship through prayer, discipleship/spiritual guidance, teaching, preaching, the administration of the sacraments and equipping people in their ministries. The majority of the Associate Pastor’s responsibility will rest on nurturing the people of the International Fellowship under the leadership of the Lead Pastor but she or he will also collaborate with other pastors and leaders in the building up of the whole of Immanuel Church under the leadership of the Senior Pastor. The main responsibilities of the Associate Pastor of Immanuel International will comprise:

• Youth ministry for the age group 12–18 years
• Young adult ministry
• Worship and ministry leadership
• Pastoral care, counselling and visitation
• Certain administrative duties

It is important that the Associate Pastor of Immanuel International understands and values being part of a larger team and commits to being a contributing member of the team through a mutual exchange of experiences and interactions. Experience of international ministry is highly desirable. For this position it is also expected that the pastor starts to learn the Swedish language and culture. Immanuel Church will provide help in this. You are preferably a pastor in either Equmeniakyrkan / Uniting Church of Sweden or The Evangelical Covenant Church, USA.

The position is a full-time position to start in early 2018. Salary will be in line with local agreements and is negotiable. Please indicate your desired salary in your application.
