The arrangements are flexible and can be adapted to different settings \u2013 from small rooms to larger ensembles. This collection is an expression of the rich musical life of Immanuel Church, where tradition and innovation meet. We hope these songs will touch and inspire others, just as they have inspired us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In this collection you will find 30 newly written songs created for worship services, mass, devotions, meditation, and retreats. In Immanuel Church in Stockholm there is a rich and unique musical life. The congregation strives to be a place where both traditional and modern music have room and can discover new paths together.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSongs from Immanuel\u201d has emerged through groups of young people who, in close collaboration with musicians and theologians, have delved into the Psalms and interpreted the texts. Through shared creativity, the texts were then given melodies and became this collection of songs. It all began as a continuation of the church\u2019s confirmation groups and has grown into a music project that has reached far beyond the boundaries of the original small group. The songs have also been developed into instrumental versions, for example for biblical meditation, as well as into pure choral works.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The lyrics are written as prayers, inspired by or directly taken from the Psalms \u2013 the great prayer book of the Bible, which contains the full range of human emotions. The language, in both text and music, aims to be simple and accessible. The music is written for congregational singing and for one or several vocal parts. All the songs are built on a deeper idea of \u201cexhalation\u201d and \u201cinhalation.\u201d Exhalation represents community in the shared act of singing together. Inhalation is when the music turns instrumental \u2013 a symbol of personal contemplation and an invitation to turn inward for reflection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The arrangements are written with variation in mind, adapted to the setting \u2013 from small rooms to large spaces, from one instrument to a band or full orchestra, from solo singing to choir, or fully instrumental.
