Are you interested in helping children, youth, and adults develop musically within a congregation where music plays an important role? We are now seeking a part-time (50%) principal for our music school, which serves approximately 150 students, ranging from beginners to advanced levels.
About Us
Immanuelskyrkan is one of the congregations of Equmeniakyrkan, located in the heart of Stockholm. We reach thousands of people every week through services offered in multiple languages and shaped by various traditions. Around 40 staff members work alongside many volunteers in a broad range of activities to serve each other and the city while sharing the message of God’s presence. Many people have come to know us through our music.
The goal of Immanuelskyrkan’s Music School is to provide children, youth, and adults with quality music education within the church’s framework, delivered with high pedagogical standards in a warm, positive environment.
The school has around 150 children, youth, and adults learning to sing and play instruments at both beginner and more advanced levels. Since this principal position is part-time, we welcome applicants who wish to combine this role with other work. Please include details of any other employment in your application. Working hours are flexible, mainly during office hours, but some evenings and weekends are required. Availability during most weeks is necessary.
The Music School, a part of Immanuelskyrkan, offers vocal and instrumental lessons for all ages. Our dedicated, well-educated, and experienced teaching team consists of around ten music teachers and an administrator. None of our teachers work full-time, so understanding and coordinating their schedules with other commitments in a positive way is essential.

- Overseeing the budget, handling administrative tasks, and using digital tools for operational management.
- Developing partnerships with other church departments and outside organizations, such as cultural schools.

- Promoting and representing the music school.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who:
- Holds a relevant music education and has teaching experience.
- Understands the role of music in a church setting.
- Is clear, engaged, and communicative in leadership, with the ability to build trust.
- Can establish structures that allow for individual flexibility within the organization.
- Is experienced in budget management and has strong administrative skills.
- Is comfortable using digital tools.
Personal Qualities
As principal, you are attuned to Immanuelskyrkan’s overall mission and can identify opportunities for collaboration both within and outside the church.
Your role involves advocating for the music school as an integrated part of the congregation’s music ministry. You have a deep understanding of music, recognize the uniqueness of each student, appreciate the differences among instrument groups, and are passionate about seeing people grow musically.
